The Power of Mentors

I was sharing my story with a group recently and it made me reflect on three men who poured into me. It’s amazing to look back and see how much God used them to speak truth into my life and how I was changed forever.

I never went looking for mentors and maybe at times the learning went both ways. But regardless, these guys taught me so many things. It would be hard to list out how many! How to trust God, how to love on others, how to relate to teens, how to teach in front of a large group, how to study the Bible, how to be discerning but most importantly, God used these men to draw me closer to him.

By God’s grace I’ve in turn have been blessed with opportunities to pour into others. The things that God will teach YOU as you pour into others is priceless.

We are all on our own unique journeys. Not better or behind, just different. And, God set it up that in the Christian life we would need each other ().

Who’s pouring into you and who are you pouring into?

For sure it’s expensive but there is little that is more rewarding.

6:1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For each will have to bear his own load.

One who is taught the word must share all good things with the one who teaches. Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
