Now I know that there are many colder places on the earth but what is up with the coldest winter in years this year!?!!??!?! We have really gotten used to more milder winters until this year. At least it has seemed that way to me. The below picture of the temp from my truck this morning says it all:

Melissa and I are reading through the Bible chronologically and a thought occurred to me while reading the story of Joseph: Joseph was the first major character from Abraham that resisted sexual sin. It is amazing to me to see that major character after major character failed sexually. God never goes into great detail as to why he picked these band of characters. For that matter he amazes me that he has picked me. But from our early days, we are taught that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are these great guys who were men of God. After reading through Genesis again, I find these men put their pants (robes?) on one leg at a time just like us. I’m not trying to diminish their role that God chose them for but rather make the point that God has over and over again chosen broken people to fulfill his plan.
Joseph wasn’t immune to being an idiot either. I mean really, who has the audacity to tell their dad and brothers that in their dream, they all bowed down to him? This guy really had a chip on his shoulder. It took some time in a pit and being sold into slavery to straighten him out. I wonder, was it the time with Jacob that taught him to not sin against God or was it because he wasn’t at home under Jacob’s influence?
Hmmmm…….
The weather is just nuts here. It’s snowing in buckets. Is that possible?

I’ll have to post a picture of the pool…all of the rain and the snow have just about filled it up. Time to get the pump out…as soon as it warms a bit that is. I’m ready for spring. I do nothing in the winter ’cause I feel like hibernating. I wonder if God is calling me to Irvine?
Well it has been way too long since my last post so I’ll be making several posts to make up for it.
I am teaching a one day workshop on the Inductive Bible Study (IBS) this Saturday at Heritage Baptist Church. This is a mens only event and as of right now, we are right at 40 guys attending. We have room for a few more just let me know if you are coming. We will start at 9AM, break for lunch and finish up around 3:30.
I am excited about this event because most of the guys will walk away knowing this great method of studying the Bible. It usually takes people 4-5 times if you come to a weekly event. At this workshop, we are having four sessions and will be studying through I Thessalonians and it is going to be GREAT!!
I also had the privilege of teaching a 40 minute session on IBS at the WOL Mid-Year conference. We had almost 50 people in attendance there! I love to teach and I have told God that I will teach people how to study the Bible anytime he gives me the opportunity.
